Enfim, o importante é que pela primeira vez na história pudemos assistir a uma transmissão ao vivo [mesmo] do MET, no cinema, em alta definição (ok, média-alta), junto com o público de algumas dezenas de países. Essa transmissão foi a da matinê do sábado, a terceira récita do &lt;i&gt;Rhinegold&lt;/i&gt;, que estreou no dia 27 de setembro. Die Walküre&lt;/i&gt; no ano que vem e de &lt;i&gt;Siegfried&lt;/i&gt; e &lt;i&gt;Gotterdämmerung &lt;/i&gt;em seguida.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;A equipe de criação inclui o veteraníssimo James Levine (completando 40 anos na casa) e Robert Lepage, célebre diretor canadense, que trouxe uma visão de certa forma tradicional na concepção cênica, e se apoiou fortemente nos recursos visuais para traduzir o drama musical longo e complexo de Wagner. Como diria William Berger, estamos passando da era dos encenadores para a era dos designers como as figuras de ponta nas montagens operísticas, e este caso é exemplar. A cenografia que serve de base para o universo desenhado por Lepage para as quatro peças, da qual tivemos apenas uma amostra na tarde de ontem, se mostrou o centro das discussões que circularam pela internet nas últimas semanas. Pesando quarenta e cinco toneladas e demonstrando uma apurado nível técnico, as plataformas pivotantes deram um show à parte, em combinação com as projeções, que eram renderizadas ao vivo utilizando o som da orquestra e dos cantores como ponto de partida. Esse recurso ja tinha sido utilizado na montagem do Anel de Valência (veja &lt;a href="http://gslanfranchi.blogspot.com/2010/07/der-ring-des-nibelungen-em-valencia.html"&gt;aqui&lt;/a&gt;), mas o resultado é bem mais ´sutil´ no conjunto da obra. A comparação com a produção de Carlos Padrissa também se aplica aos sistemas de suspensão dos cantores e dublês, mas tudo é um pouco mais low-profile, o que ajudou a não sufocar a performance dos atores/cantores. O custo de tudo isso, cerca de U$ 16.000.000,00, não é baixo, mas é apenas a metade do que foi gasto recentemente em Los Angeles por Achim Freyer. A relação custo-benefício, portanto, parece ser boa. O espetáculo é opulento sem ser avassalador, mantendo o equilíbrio entre a importância da partitura, da atuação dos intérpretes, do fluxo narrativo e do design, ou seja, o &lt;i&gt;gesamkunstwerk&lt;/i&gt;. Direção de Robert Lepage! O Rhinegold estréia agora em Setembro, no dia 27 (ainda existem alguns ingressos à venda para a Gala opening night a partir de US$675, mais o aluguel do smoking), mas o resto já está tudo esgotado. Como não vai dar pra ver o Rhinegold (ou o Siegfried... ou o Götterdämmerung... pelo menos por enquanto) vamos de Die Walküre mesmo, que é uma das melhores partes do ciclo e tem o bônus da participação do Jonas Kaufmann, além de Bryn Terfel no papel de Wotan. Considerado a fina flor do Eurotrash (e provavelmente odiado por &lt;/span&gt;&lt;a style="font-family: trebuchet ms;" href="http://operachic.typepad.com/opera_chic/2008/08/zeffirelli-joins-the-fray-bravo-maazel-enough-with-this-horror.html"&gt;Franco Zeffireli&lt;/a&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;, embora ele não se digne a proferir o nome com a iniciais CB), Bieito tem seu público, principalmente em Barcelona e na Alemanha (onde perpretou sua mais escandalosa montagem - &lt;/span&gt;&lt;a style="font-family: trebuchet ms;" href="http://amandamichellewhite.wordpress.com/2010/06/30/opera-porn-regie-and-bieitos-entfuhrung/"&gt;O Rapto do Serralho&lt;/a&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt; de Mozart), e tem colecionado alguns sucessos - o último deles em Stuttgart, com um &lt;/span&gt;&lt;a style="font-family: trebuchet ms;" href="http://www.elpais.com/articulo/cultura/Calixto/Bieito/convence/Stuttgart/version/Parsifal/elpepucul/20100329elpepucul_6/Tes"&gt;Parsifal &lt;/a&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;considerado 'eletrizante' pelo público. Iconoclasta por princípio, Bieito não deixa pedra sobre pedra em suas produções, e, ao contrário de seu contemporâneo Carlos Padrissa (que baixou BEM o tom quando levou a linguagem do seu grupo Fura dels Baus para os teatros de ópera), não abandonou a nudez, a perversão, a mutilação, etc. Polêmica que não chegaria ao teatro dramático, acostumado com esse tipo de coisa (vide Artaud, Grotowski, Zé Celso e outros mais). Fato é que, mesmo com o surgimento cada vez maior de montagens anacrônicas (no bom sentido) e simbolistas, dirigidas por Carsen, McVicar, Sellars e outros diretores contemporâneos, o trabalho de Bieito é o mais transgressor, para o bem e para o mal. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;Algumas palavras do tenor Andrew Richards, que trabalhou com Bieito recentemente (do seu excelente blog Opera Rocks):&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;(...) &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-style: italic;font-family:trebuchet ms;" &gt;Which,  I guess, was how I lasted thru the Bieito ordeal. I'm so sad to be  approaching the final performance. Not to see my colleagues and friends  at the opera will be hard, but harder still is the physical challenge to  "Let go." The inner voices of self-doubt that plague many performers  just ceased in the ordeal. There wasn't any place for them. For all of  us. You just had to give yourself over to craziness. Because, come on,  Calixto is NUTS! In all the right ways. Compro sempre na Amazon - que é a melhor loja online para aquisição de livros importados em inglês (lembrando que livros NÃO pagam imposto de importação, e que a opção de frete internacional standard não é tão cara - se você não tiver pressa). Com uma abordagem técnica e prática, a marca da &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;Association of British Theatre Technicians e a colaboração de um time de especialistas ingleses (os melhores do mundo, na minha modesta opinião), o livro está sendo &lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:arial;"&gt;publicado pela Routledge (a mesma editora de&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span id="btAsinTitle" style=""&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:arial;"&gt; &lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;Architecture,  Actor and Audience&lt;/span&gt;, de Iain Mackintosh)&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;, e parece ter um conteúdo ainda melhor que o&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt;&lt;span id="btAsinTitle" style=""&gt; &lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;Buildings for  the Performing Arts&lt;/span&gt; do Ian Appleton, ou o &lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;Theatre Planning&lt;/span&gt; do Roderick Ham (que já tem mais de trinta anos). Os estudos de caso - 28 diferentes teatros, entre os mais importantes do mundo - são talvez mais significativos que os exemplos de George Izenour no seu livro &lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;Theatre Design&lt;/span&gt; - que não é mais a grande referência que foi um dia. Os capítulos incluem assuntos que estão na ordem do dia - acessibilidade e sustentabilidade, por exemplo, além de todos os aspectos dos sistemas ambientais já conhecidos: espaços serventes e servidos (incluindo áreas administrativas e técnicas, salas de ensaio, depósitos etc), projeto de palco e platéia, mecânica cênica, iluminação, eletroacústica e muito mais.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Como ainda não tenho o livro em mãos (o lançamento está sendo feito por estes dias), me baseei no que eu vi no site da Amazon. A montagem, dirigida por Carlos Padrisa (do grupo espanho La Fura dels Baus) utiliza os recursos de linguagem já tornados clássicos de outras produções do grupo, como a Flauta Mágica na Ruhrtrienalle em 2003, que vai merecer um post à parte. No DVD da primeira parte da tetralogia (Das Rheingold) vem esse trailer + galeria de imagens. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;a style="font-weight: bold;" href="http://gslanfranchi.blogspot.com/2010/07/claus-guth-em-viena-e-o-messias-de.html"&gt;aqui&lt;/a&gt;, mas não poderia deixar de aproveitar a ocasião para citar a versão cinematográfica de William Klein (mais conhecido por seu trabalho para a Vogue estadunidense e seus ensaios fotojornalísticos). Esse filme é de 1999. The &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span class="text_exposed_hide"  style="font-family:arial;"&gt;...&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="text_exposed_show"  style="font-family:arial;"&gt;only  person knowing that this was suicide is a priest, who stages it&lt;br /&gt;like  a murder, so that the guy can be at least properly buried. And the&lt;br /&gt;question  arises whether this can be understood and whether there could&lt;br /&gt;be  redemption for such a deed. The answer comes from an angel like&lt;br /&gt;figure,  though speaking to us in a sign language. (Basically God&lt;br /&gt;speaking  to us and us being “blind and deaf” or not open enough to&lt;br /&gt;understand  his words)."&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/h3&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Parece interessante, não é? Não sou fã da Netrebko, mas neste caso a sua interpretação é bem competente, ou até mais que isso. O papel de Violeta é complexo e cheio de nuances, o que fica ainda mais evidente na produção de Decker, com cenografia minimalista e sentimentos à flor da pele. O Alfredo de Villazón é neurótico como ele - na medida certa para o personagem. E Thomas Hampson, que já foi um dos meus barítonos preferidos, também convence como Giorgio Germont, embora eu prefira a versão de José Van Dam em Paris - que, aliás, também é genial, e será postada aqui posteriormente, com Christine Schäfer :-D e Jonas Kaufmann.
